It has been sad to watch celebrations be taken out of my children’s school experience. In Minnesota is against the law to send homemade treats of any kind to school. When we were on a tight budget, that made it hard to find a birthday treat for a class of 30 that was store bought and still affordable. Now our district has banned any parent supplied birthday celebration of any kind. They said it was getting too distracting from learning and not everyone could provide a birthday treat on their child’s birthday. Now it is up to the teachers to find a way to celebrate. i’m not sure what that is in my son’s classroom.

I agree. Let’s look at potential noinemes who may start the 2016 Presidential run in a few days of both parties and also 3d and independent parties and groups. I would hope that teachers, me included could find the time to write our Congressional and Senatorial representatives. I wrote a letter on Oct. 17. I don’t a lot of free time but I did so for several reasons. One of which is to have a legacy that can be researched by decedents a few hundred years from now. What did my relative Mark, a teacher think about President Obama’s stand on education? Oh, let’s search Obama’s records. Now, we have another opportunity. Let’s hope it’s better than the 430 letters out of a possible 3.5 million. A quick note is better than nothing at all folks. Of course, those who don’t have the time may find themselves with lots of time if they don’t get involved. Just a nudge.

I have read a lot of “things I wish I had known” and I must say, this is the first time that I have read the types of things you mention here. these are all good thing, but nevertheless things that we should be prepared for in the event that we have to deal with any of them. also, thanks for the tip about not reading our reviews. thank you very much for sharing these tips.

Yes on the love lens!!! If we ask that simple question – Does that seem lOving to you?
Well, we go right to the heart if the matter, don’t we. Never mind the complexity of the issue. It could be tyrannical testing, unions subverting their own teachers or corporatizing Public Schools. Love does not act in that Fashion. Time to get loving into the discussions and the Solutions.
